Rae's Journal: Edition 12

The Constants – Back in Stock

Autumn is upon is. Sad always to say good-bye to Summer. Summer, to me, says freedom – no school, very little routine, very little time keeping, ice cold Rose, salads and sun kissed faces...

That aside, I love Autumn. I love the wonderful Autumnal colours – browns, beiges, maroons, reds. Long weekend walks with the dogs and the rustle of crisp freshly fallen leaves under my feet.

Change in season – change in wardrobe. I adore wrapping up and feeling cosy. Our AW collection launches next week (I promise!). Lots of great knits in flattering shapes and as always our signature cashmere scarves...

Have a lovely weekend!!

Alison Moore – He Wants

Retired teacher Lewis Sullivan always imagined living by the sea.

He lives instead in the Midlands village in which he was born. His grown-up daughter visits every day, bringing soup. He does not want soup. He frequents his second-favourite pub, where he can get half a shandy, a speciality sausage and a bit of company.

When a childhood friend appears on the scene, Lewis finds his life and comfortable routine shaken up.

Restaurant of the Week

Our Soho-based restaurant has some of the Ottolenghi trademarks – platters full of salads greet customers as they arrive, a menu which celebrates bold flavours – but NOPI has a very different feel to the Ottolenghi delis. The marble is white, the brass is golden, the art is dynamic, the pace is a little faster. The more formal design of the ground floor gives way to the informality of the communal dining downstairs, where two long canteen tables look on to the theatre of the open kitchen.

NOPI’s menu changes according to the seasons but signature dishes from head chef Ramael Scully include courgette and manouri fritters, coriander seed-crusted burrata with slices of blood orange and twice-cooked baby chicken with lemon myrtle salt and chilli jam. NOPI serves breakfast, lunch, pre-theatre and dinner menus.
