Rae's Journal: Edition 9

Well, where do I start. It’s been a mad few months... As many of you will know we opened the pop up in Quinta do Lago in early June which has proved to be a great experience/success. One of the most appealing reasons for opening the shop was the ability of showcase the brand to an international audience. I am overwhelmed by their reception. They love the simplicity of the brand and all comment abut the quality versus affordability.

I have met so many interesting people along the way and more importantly the collection has been wonderfully received with sell outs on many of the woven pieces and our signature cashmere luxury Featherlight scarves a talking point amongst many. The shop is opened unit the end of October so please pop in and say hello if you are passing.

I am also thrilled to announce that last week we launched in Brown Thomas Dublin. Being Irish, I could not be prouder.  Brown and Thomas features many of the worlds top designers and is a store that I have always been a huge fan of. Growing up it was as my inspiration and aspiration.

So far the brand is performing very well in store and we look forward to a fruitful and growing relationship with them. Find us on the second floor of the Dublin store.

This collection will be be ready to view on line at the beginning of September.

Wishing you all a very Happy August!

The Setting Sun

When a letter from an Indian historian arrives out of the blue and informs leading academic Bart Moore-Gilbert that his beloved deceased father, a member of the Indian Police before Independence, took part in the abuse of civilians, his world is shaken as cherished childhood memories are challenged. He sets out in search of the truth – discovering much about the end of empire, the state of India today, and whether his father, as one of the many characters on his quest claims, really was a terrorist.

Criss-crossing western India, and following leads from bustling Mumbai to remote rural locations, Moore-Gilbert pieces together the truth, discovering that the story of his father’s life links today’s politics with the past’s, colonial India with its modern incarnation, terrorism across the ages, and father with son. The Setting Sun is at once an extraordinary meditative voyage across India, a story of the dying days of an empire, and a gripping family history.

Restaurant of the week

Maria’s Beach Restaurant – Quinta Do Lago

Maria’s can be enjoyed throughout the vast majority of the year. We open every day from lunchtime through dinner time for drinks and food. Maria’s has always been a regular haunt for lunch and now it is a very popular evening destination. Whatever the season, there is nothing like dining by the sea with a sunlit beach. In winter we have warm heaters for cosy dinners and in summer the roof and blinds are open under the starry skies. Some things don’t change and Sundays will always be a must at Maria’s! We have a live band and a wonderful atmosphere is enjoyed by all. We never fail to visit on a trip to Portugal and end up staying for hours on end soaking up the sun and having a laugh with friends and family.
