A classic lightweight option, our Rene Hat is made from papier which is handwoven by our artisans in Italy. Comes with an added removable hatband. It is very lightweight,  rolls and folds easily making it perfect for travelling. Comes with a biodegradable storage case.

      We currently offer a 57cm and 59cm Le Hats. All are sized at approximate measurements as they are handmade and size can vary by 0.5-1cm. Nevertheless you will be able to easily adjust the hat from the inside with a drawstring tie. If you need a smaller size, simply pull the drawstring from the inner sweatband and tie a bow to secure it. You have the capacity here to reduce the size by 2cm. 
      We have illustrated a few simple steps to ensure you’re measuring your head properly before purchase. In order to do this you will need a cloth tape measure. It would help if you also had some assistance from another person, just to ensure accuracy. Please note that we measure in centimeters. 

      HOW SHOULD I WEAR MY HAT?
      We’ve listed two options of wearing your hat. It is essential to measure your hat to fit as per your preferred option as there are significant differences. 

      HALO
      The ‘halo’ is placed above your forehead and slightly angled toward the back of the head. 
      1. Place your measuring tape around your head starting at the furthest part of the back of your head. 
       2. Bring the tape measure round to the front of your head and finish just above your hairline. Ensure your tape measure is about 3-5mm above your earlobes on the side.  
       
      TRADITIONAL
      The ‘traditional’ way of wearing your hat is shown below sitting perfectly on the top of your head.
      1. Using your tape measure and starting at the back of your head, place the measuring tape around the back of your head.
       2. Bring the tape round to the front of your head leaving about 3-5mm above your ears and finish in the centre of your forehead or just above your eyebrows.
       
       
      In any arena, sustainability has to be at the forefront of development and evolution. Protecting the environment is a primary concern. It is fundamental and should be the core of every brand's  philosophy. The biodegradable packaging took six months longer than we thought as there was no compromise in obtaining only biodegradable solutions. All the hats are either raffia or papier, a sustainably sourced material made from recycled materials. Our fabrics are handwoven and then sent on to be hand woven into packable womens hats by artisans in Italy. We aim to continue to develop our collections with all these elements considered. 

      MATERIALS

      PAPER


      A bespoke material made using recyclable paper materials. Papier is an extremely durable fabrication and has been used across multiple weaving techniques including spiralling and fine knitting. 

      STRAW 

      We have sourced a natural straw to create our hardwearing Gaby Hat which is handcrafted by artisans at our factories in Italy.

      RAFFIA 

      Made up of natural fibres, this non-treated fabrication has been used across our more natural, classic pieces to create beautifully hand woven packable hats.

      HAT BANDS

      Made from natural fibres such as hessian, cotton and viscose. We've added them to our hats to add a further styling detail. They're all removable so you can have a choice of two different ways to wear your hat.
       

      Our Partner - byEloise

      byEloise strives to be a sustainable brand. Many non-branded pack hairbands on the market are lost/tossed away and consumed at a fast pace. byEloise wishes to change this by offering premium hairbands; high quality and long-lived products. Paper packaging is used rather than plastic and the packaging of the products sold on the Le Hat web shop is 100% climate neutral.   
        
      ByEloise is very careful with the selection of producers and believes in long-term relationships, good working conditions and fair wages. The factories are visited 2-3 times a year by byEloise to ensure quality of production and oversight of working conditions.
        
       ByEloise invests in good quality that lasts a long time.  

      ETHICAL MANUFACTURING

      All production for our hats takes place in Italy. The factory we work with began in the early 1900s and has supported women in the art of millinery ever since. We are proud to work with them and support them. 
      We are passionate about visiting our factories in Italy on a regular basis and maintaining relationships with them at all times. 

      BIODEGRADEABLE STORING SLEEVE

      We have worked with our suppliers on producing a biodegradable sleeve option for you to store your Le Hat in while travelling. Made from biodegradable plastic. We encourage you to reuse this for continual storage while travelling. If you no longer require the sleeve then please recycle accordingly or return to us.  
      POSTAL PACKAGING
      At Le Hat our final stage of packaging will conclude with a 100% recyclable kraft box. We have been reassured that all manufactured waste is disposed of responsibly making sure the recyclable loop is maintained and fully optimised in conjunction with the UK packaging regulations.

      EU/Brexit Delivery Information

      The UK exited the European Union on 1st January 2021. While the transition period is in process there may be delays to your deliveries. We ship all our orders from the UK and are trying our best to get our orders out on time and as efficiently as possible. 

      Order Dispatch 

      As a consequence of Brexit we are noticing a high volume of delays with couriers processing international orders. When we dispatch your order you will receive a shipping notification with the relevant tracking information linked to the carrier website. We ask that you keep an eye on this tracking number and if there are any issues please do contact us here.

      Customs & Duties

      From 1st January 2021 all orders that exceed a value of €150 will be subject to import duties. Rae Feather will not be liable for these duties and you are required to settle these duty charges with the couriers via their website. We predominantly use TNT for all EU shipments and in some cases, Royal Mail which follows on to your local national postal service. In this transitional process please keep up to date with the tracking information provided as the courier companies will require you to process payment for any duties via their site before releasing goods from their depots. 

      Rae Feather will not be responsible from any charges that are incurred as a consequence of the receiver not paying these charges promptly. 

      EU Returns

      If you are processing a return from any EU or associated countries you must email us at info@raefeather.com prior to processing your return shipment. 

      Taxes & Duties

      Any customs or import duties are charged once a parcel reaches the destination country. Any additional charges must be paid by the recipient of the parcel. Unfortunately, we do not have any control over these charges and advise you contact your local customs office for current charges before placing the order.

      Packaging

      Baskets and bags are packaged in cotton dust bags and packed in a discreet cardboard box as our standard packaging. Clothing is wrapped in tissue paper and delivered either in a box or tough recycled paper bag. Gift boxes can be purchased separately but are not appropriate for certain sizes of baskets, details are provided on individual product pages where applicable.

      All parcels are trackable once despatched. Details of your dispatch will be received in your shipping confirmation email

      Returns

      We want you to be fully satisfied with your order, in the unlikely event this is not the case you can return your order to us within 14 days of receipt of your goods for an exchange or refund. We aim to process all refunds within 7 days of receipt of goods. 

      We can only offer exchanges for alternative sizes or colours of the same product and all exchanges are subject to availability on return of goods. Please identify if you would like a return or exchange on the returns form.

      Please note:

      Customers will be responsible for shipping and handling charges to return items (unless items are faulty). We do not take responsibility for the shipping of your item and therefore suggest you consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We do not guarantee that your items will arrive with us. If your items are faulty, the original shipping cost and the returns postage will be refunded. If you require any further information please email info@raefeather.com or call 01280 848522. Please fill out the returns form which you can download from the website when returning your items in order for us to complete your return. 

      Refunds

      Refunds will be issued onto the original payment card or Paypal account.  Refunds can take up to 10 working days to show on your account due to varying processing times between payment providers. Shipping costs will be excluded from your refund unless the items are faulty.  Items must be returned to us unused with all tags and original packaging still attached in a clean, unworn condition. For hygiene reasons, we cannot accept returns for earrings unless the product is faulty. Returns that do not meet our policy will be sent back to you.

      Faulty Items

      If your item is faulty on receipt of goods, you can return it for a refund within 30 days from the date you received it. If you have owned the item for more than 30 days, please contact Customer Care directly.

      Personalised or Made to Order Goods

      Please note that bespoke or personalised items cannot be changed or returned.  

      Gift Vouchers

      Unfortunately, we are unable to issue refunds on any gift vouchers.

      Jewellery - Earrings

      For hygiene reasons, we will be unable to accept returns for any earrings purchased.

      Skin Care

      We will only accept returns on unopened items, with all original product packaging and hygiene seals untouched. We are unable to offer a refund, replacement or exchange on items that are not re-saleable.
